The Group was formed over 12 years ago now in 1998 as a Millennium Project under and funded by the Constabulary ‘s Community Partnership Department to preserve and catalogue items documents and photographs depicting the legacy and heritage of the Gloucestershire Constabulary . The Group works closely with Gloucestershire Archives whilst gathering artefacts and photographs as well as producing diaries and maintaining photographic albums, photographic and document databases. Much time is also spent in endeavouring to answer the many queries from members of the public concerning relatives who were past members of the Constabulary. Over the years successful presentations and displays have been given and shown at a variety of events including Gloucester Archives, Gloucester Family History days, NARPO AGM’s and Luncheons, and the Constabulary's open days and Anniversary Celebrations. The group meets weekly at the former Police Headquarters - Holland House Cheltenham. Its members have hitherto consistently been and are currently all NARPO Members but would welcome help from any interested Regular Officers, members of the Special Constabulary, PCSO’s and Police Staff to join them in furthering what the Constabulary recognises as an important project, gathering and securing for posterity relevant material, as it is evident that much has been destroyed over the years.
